The Cardi Come Up.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock lately, I’m sure you’ve heard the official bad chick summer anthem that’s been blowing up the charts.  America’s favorite pop out princess is the reality TV star, turned rapper behind the hit single that’s taking the charts by storm.  Belcalis Almanzar, professionally known as Cardi B, is the 24 year old Bronx baddie that has been making waves with her hit single Bodak Yellow.

With just 3 weeks on the billboard top 100 charts the catchy hip hop hymn jumped from no. 78 to 49 just this week and climbing. Directed by Picture Perfect, queen Cardi B is making money moves in Dubai on the set of her splashy new Bodak Yellow music video that has already racked up over 18 million views on Youtube. If there was any doubting her before, Bodak Yellow is proof that Cardi is taking her music career more seriously than many would’ve guessed.

On the heels of her first hit record, the Bodak Barbie made it clear that she is here to stay dropping her newest fire track Lick featuring her new beau Offset. Cardi’s over the top, realness, and unapologetic hood chick attitude and aesthetic made her an instant favorite on Instagram which earned her a spot on the hit reality TV show Love and Hip Hop New York. She quickly became the show’s favorite and walked away from the show to seriously pursue her career in music.

What’s so special about Cardi is her unique rise to fame in the male dominated rap game. Cardi is one of the few female rappers that has made her own way to the charts without the cosign or support from another popular male rapper. Cardi got her first hit single on the charts with no features or influence of a male rapper and that’s what makes her success so fulfilling to watch. Cardi is definitely a crowd favorite to say the least, and we’re all rooting for her. Keep your eye on Cardi cuz sis is about to blow.
